Priceless Memories

Alhamdulillah, with His blessings, I have the chance to served part on the community in East Malaysia Hospital. I did my elective posting in my hometown, which was in Hospital Serdang. Just to share with you guys some of the remarkable experiences, I had gone through out the posting. It was a fun, knowledgable, 4 weeks posting, especially because it's near my house and beloved family! It's also my first experienced ever since entered the medical school to be near my lovely family. One of the cases that I had come across is Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, to be more specific, it is a case of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, diffuse large B cell lymphoma. During the ward rounds with CUCMS students in the medical ward, Prof Latiff,   the Internal Medicine lecturer of the school,whom I've also heard of his talk in IKIM.fm health talk slot once, said that the patient had marked positive sign and symptoms which trigger my curiosity in clerking him. After the rounds, my friend and I clerked him, performed incomplete physical examination. Indeed he has features of cancer such as loss of weight, loss of appetite, diffuse lymph nodes, with underlying peptic ulcer, bilateral pedal edema, matted abdominal lymph nodes and others. 

Say: "Truly, my Lord enlarges the provision for whom He wills of His slaves, and (also) restricts (it) for him, and whatsoever you spend of anything (in Allah's Cause), He will replace it. And He is the Best of providers." (al- Quran, Surah Saba, Verse 39)

Suddenly he requested for drinks from us as a treat. He said that he was bored of drinking luke water. The first thing that crosses my mind is that: ''OK, patients here are quite demanding! '' Hence, after we clerked him, me and my friend Zafirah, go down to the cafeteria and bought some drinks for him. By the time we climb to the ward back, we saw his wife was already there since it was visiting hour (at noon). We happily had our lunch then. The following day as we follow the ward rounds again, I didn’t saw the patient. I was curious to follow up the case since thinking that it could be a good case for my case write up! So I went to walk to the readily unlock computer to read the case files. I was shocked to read headings stated above the personal data: DECEASED! People come and people go. When there is birth there is also death! Hence it make me realized that, patients are our teachers, and we do not have the power to cure, because all that is in God’s hand. May Allah bless him. Ameen.

''Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion.'' (Surah ali-Imran, verse185)

Mangkuk yang Cantik, Madu dan Sehelai Rambut

…Bismillahirrahmanirrahim...

Pada suatu hari Rasulullah SAW, dengan sahabat-sahabat baginda iaitu Saidina Abu Bakar r.a., Umar r.a., Uthman r.a., dan 'Ali r.a. bertamu ke rumah Ali r.a. Di rumah Ali r.a. istrinya Sayidatina Fathimah r.ha.puteri Rasulullah SAW menghidangkan untuk mereka madu yang diletakkan di dalam sebuah mangkuk yang cantik, dan ketika semangkuk madu itu dihidangkan, sehelai rambut terikut di dalam mangkuk itu.Baginda Rasulullah SAW kemudian meminta kesemua sahabatnya untuk membuat suatu perbandingan terhadap ketiga benda 

tersebut iaitu Mangkuk yang cantik, madu, dan sehelai rambut.

Abu Bakar r.a. berkata:

"iman itu lebih cantik dari mangkuk yang cantik ini, orang yang beriman itu lebih manis dari madu, dan mempertahankan iman itu lebih susah dari meniti sehelai rambut".

Umar r.a. berkata:

"kerajaan itu lebih cantik dari mangkuk yang cantik ini, seorang raja itu lebih manis dari madu, dan memerintah dengan adil itu lebih sulit dari meniti sehelai rambut".

Uthman r.a. berkata:

"ilmu itu lebih cantik dari mangkuk yang cantik ini, orang yang menuntut ilmu itu lebih manis dari madu, dan ber'amal dengan ilmu yang dimiliki itu lebih sulit dari meniti sehelai rambut".

Ali r.a. berkata,

"tamu itu lebih cantik dari mangkuk yang cantik ini, menjamu tamu itu lebih manis dari madu, dan membuat tamu senang sampai kembali pulang ke rumahnya adalah lebih sulit dari meniti sehelai rambut".

Fatimah r.ha.berkata,

"seorang wanita itu lebih cantik dari sebuah mangkuk yang cantik, wanita yang ber-purdah itu lebih manis dari madu, dan mendapatkan seorang wanita yang tak pernah dilihat orang lain kecuali muhrimnya lebih sulit dari meniti sehelai rambut".

Rasulullah SAW berkata,

"seorang yang mendapat taufiq untuk beramal adalah lebih cantik dari mangkuk yang cantik ini, beramal dengan amal yang baik itu lebih manis dari madu, dan berbuat amal dengan ikhlas adalah lebih sulit dari meniti sehelai rambut".

Malaikat Jibril AS berkata,

"menegakkan pilar-pilar agama itu lebih cantik dari sebuah mangkuk yang cantik, menyerahkan diri; harta; dan waktu untuk usaha agama lebih manis dari madu, dan mempertahankan usaha agama sampai akhir hayat lebih sulit dari meniti sehelai rambut".

Allah SWT berfirman,

" Syurga-Ku itu lebih cantik dari mangkuk yang cantik itu, nikmat, syurga-Ku itu lebih manis dari madu, dan jalan menuju syurga-Ku adalah lebih sulit dari meniti sehelai rambut".

Panjang-panjangkanlah kisah ini moga-moga ada imbalan dan pengajarannya.Insya-Allah =)
